Rehabilitation Neuropsychology
 

Rehabilitation neuropsychology offers a comprehensive approach to applied problems concerning the psychological (cognitive, behavioral and emotion) effects of central nervous system damage. Neuropsychology evaluations assess intelligence, attention, memory, language expression,language comprehension, logical abstract reasoning skills, comprehension of dangerous situations, apraxia and academic functioning.

Following evaluation, psychotherapeutic intervention will beavailable. More comprehensive outpatient evaluations will be performed at the neuropsychology offices located in the Independence Rehabilitiation Center.

Neurological evaluations are useful in the following:

  • Suspected central nervous system damage
  • When cognitive, emotional, or behavioral presentation is inconsistent with the norm
  • Chronic pain syndrome
  • When a base level of performance is needed in order to determine whether the person can continue to live independently and safely
  • When learning disabilties are suspected
  • To assist with differential diagnosis
  • To assess attention, memory, reasoning and problem solving skills
  • To assist in affirmation of readiness to return to work
  • To assess cognitive issues underlying functional abilities such as operating a motor vehicle
  • To identify patterns of behavioral and emotional strengths and weaknesses to help make treatment recommendations
